THERE will definitely be some clowning around as circus is going to be the theme of this year's Martham Fun Carnival when it kicks off next weekend.It will be officially opened by Great Yarmouth Hippodrome impresario Peter Jay.

THERE will definitely be some clowning around as circus is going to be the theme of this year's Martham Fun Carnival when it kicks off next weekend.

It will be officially opened by Great Yarmouth Hippodrome impresario Peter Jay.

The carnival runs over Saturday 5 and Sunday July 6 at The Green with an appearance of rock band Monkey Spanner during the evening. There will be a number of stalls and charity stands.

The carnival opens to a fanfare and opening by MC Barrie Thornton, Andy Sharples, chairman of the carnival committee, 901 troop marine cadets and Peter Jay will cut the ribbon at 11am. Events include discos, a magic show, a Martial arts display, children's competitions and a tug-o-war.

The carnival procession will take place on Sunday at 1.30pm leaving from Marlborough Green and working its way around the village.

Leading the procession in a horse drawn carriage will be the Prince and Princess of Martham

and the Mayor and Mayoress of Great Yarmouth followed by the floats. On Sunday there will be a cash prize of £100 for the best float. The event finishes at 4pm.
