IT IS a “happy chappy” team for rehearsals with the Gorleston Theatre Company, as men from all backgrounds and ages have teamed up together for their forthcoming show 42nd Street to be staged at the Britannia Pier Theatre in May.

Director and choreographer Jayne King said: “It's been tight rehearsing for the show, but as some of the group members say, it's all been good fun. Many of the cast first became involved with the show when ran a tap dance taster session for men back in December, to try and get some extra men involved in the production.”

She added that most of the men who came along to that first session are now involved in the show, which she says is good for the company to have a new batch of members.

Jason Croft,35, said, “We are really enjoying being involved in such a big production, but it is really hard work. Fortunately we have begun to see an improvement now and it is all starting to pay off. We started rehearsals at the beginning of February and have been quite rapidly put through our paces to improve our skills for the performance.”

Mark Miller, 42, said: “Commitment does play a huge part and I was initially surprised by the time put in by everyone involved in a show like this, but the encouragement that I have had from family and friends has all really helped.”
