One man’s dream of setting up a comedy night in Great Yarmouth marks its second anniversary on Thursday, February 11.

The comedy nights at St George’s Theatre have now grown into a hugely popular monthly show, showcasing stars from TV’s Live At The Apollo, 8 Out of 10 Cats, QI, Mock The Week, Russell Howard’s Good News and Stand Up Central.

In 2012, comedian Paul Dunn was performing stand up across the country and wanted to bring the unique joy of a performance to our region so set up Weird Coastal Buoys Comedy.

The first show at St George’s Theatre has paved the way to the meteoric rise of this hugely successful night having seen headliners like Sarah Pascoe, Zoe Lyons, Arthur Smith, Jarred Christmas, Nathan Caton and even Jimmy Cricket to name but a few.

Local comedian Ross Downes who, despite only breaking onto the local comedy scene less than a year ago, has now joined forces with Paul in this comedy adventure. Ross, also an account executive for an offshore sales firm said: “It’s a great buzz meeting my comedy heroes and this month is very special because we are hosting a special comedy birthday bonanza featuring three of the best that stand ups that the Buoys have ever put on at St George’s!”

Anyone who has seen the crazy Italian North Londoner Tony Marrese in action will know you will walk away on the night aching with laughter from his stage antics. Tony is joined by the reigning UK Pun Champion Leo Kearse as comedy superhero Pun Man! And your MC for the night is Justin Panks.
