Coming together for prize event
HUNDREDS of people are likely to visit the Marina Centre, for the eagerly awaited Great Yarmouth Together event tomorrow afternoon. Organiser Helen Crowe, speaking on Radio Yare's Afternoon Delight programme, said: “Last year we attracted more than 1,000 people for the Big Picture event.
HUNDREDS of people are likely to visit the Marina Centre, for the eagerly awaited Great Yarmouth Together event tomorrow afternoon.
Organiser Helen Crowe, speaking on Radio Yare's Afternoon Delight programme, said: “Last year we attracted more than 1,000 people for the Big Picture event. We hope that this event weill bring all communities of Yarmouth together.”
She added: “There will be a host of stalls from various businesses and organisations face painting a display of historical items and a raffle. There is also a talent show for which we have 30 entrants.”
Co-organiser Vicki Knights said: “We have been very fortunate in securing a number of prizes. These include a three night break at a Yarmouth holiday park, courtesy of Bourne Leisure, a Banham Zoo family ticket, an Africa Alive family ticket, Pleasurewood Hills family ticket, Fritton Lake family ticket, Sea Life Centre family ticket and a six month swimming membership at the Marina Centre.”
Speaker will be Yarmouth author Colin Tooke on the history of the town, Laura Matthews from the Time and Tide Museum with a picture show on family life in Yarmouth throughout the years and David Stannard, currently organising the Great Yarmouth Opportunities Week, will be giving an insight as to the future of the region. The event will run at the Martina Centre from 2-7pm, admission is free.
