A special concert, Lest We Forget, will be given by students and friends of local singing teacher Mary Hardy-Green to boost the Poppy Appeal this year.

The concert is on Sunday, November 5 at 2.30pm at St Paul’s Church, Newtown, Great Yarmouth. It will include a variety of music, poetry and monologues with emphasis on the fun side of life as well as more sombre, thought-provoking pieces. The performers range in age and included in the programme will be The Ugly Duckling, Albert and the Lion, The Owl and the Pussy Cat, as well as Bright Eyes, The Rose, Over the Rainbow, Colours of the Wind, and some Ivor Novello and Flanders and Swann. Local soprano Rebecca Bentley will be heading the performers.

Tickets are £5, from 01493 844399 and can be reserved. Refreshments included. The Mayor will attend and present the cheque to the Appeal.
