Countdown to Festival

ORGANISERS of the forthcoming Gorleston St Andrew's 39th Competitive Festival are hoping for massive turn-out and attend both the competitive classes and the final concerts.

THE 39th Gorleston St. Andrew's Competitive Festival is now mid-stream for this year. The opening week has seen Competitive Classes for Folk, Recorder and Wind instruments with adjudication by Barbara Law, who teaches recorder and chamber music at the Purcell School and at the Junior Royal Academy of Music. String classes were adjudicated on Wednesday by Margaret Lamb, currently Head of Strings at St Peter's School in York.

For the three Friday sessions and again on Saturday morning, Gary Sieling is adjudicating Electronic Keyboard, Piano and Pipe Organ classes.

Organiser Margaret Jermany said: “On Monday and Tuesday, classes will be held for singers, both soloists and choirs. The adjudicator will be Trevor Hughes, an accomplished accompanist, conductor and organist, who is now Director of Music at Holy Saviour Church,Hitchin.”

The festival culminates with three Final Concerts. The Senior Concert will be held at the Chapter House on Friday 27 March, at 7.30 pm, the Junior Concert will be held at Lynn Grove High School on Saturday 28 March, at 2.00 pm and the Recital Award and Bircham Award Evening will be held at the Chapter House on Saturday 28 March, at 7.00 pm. Audience admission charges for adults are �2.50 to each concert, with accompanied children free.
