IT'S the beginning of another year of Country Corner which will bring you details of live gigs in our area and also those just over the border.

A reminder about Radio Norfolk and Radio Suffolk, both of which have many listeners. If you are among them, why not visit one of the live music venues and enjoy the excellent music on offer?

Tonight at Kessingland WMC, for Lowestoft CMC, is solo singer Jim Worton best known by many as a lead singer with other bands, but he sings music suited to dancing.

On Saturday at Gorleston Community Centre is Johnny Rondo with the Billy Jack Band. Johnny is a great enthusiast of live music and his enjoyment spreads to the audience with mainly traditional numbers. The venue at the Shrublands has a full list of bands for 2009 and all are the type of attractions that Shrublands regulars like to see.

I hope it will get your support on a regular basis.

There are no live gigs at our regular Sunday venues but the Acorn at Hemsby has open doors on January 11, with Garry Blackmore, and the Apollo has First Chapter.

There is also a live gig this Sunday is the Park Hotel at Diss which has Boomerang together with Terry Edwards. Contact number 01603 433918.

Hal's Honky Tonk begins 2009 on January 9 with Tequila Sunrise. Another one of our talented local bands include all well-known numbers. Details on 01493 994357.
