Easter bonnet competition in Yarmouth

An Easter bonnet competition and Easter egg tombola will be held on Easter Saturday, April 11, at 11.30am outside Burtons in the Market Place by Great Yarmouth Operatic and Dramatic Society and Dusmagrik Young People's Theatre Company.

An Easter bonnet competition and Easter egg tombola will be held on Easter Saturday, April 11, at 11.30am outside Burtons in the Market Place by Great Yarmouth Operatic and Dramatic Society and Dusmagrik Young People's Theatre Company. There are two age groups in the competition - under 13 years and 14 years plus. This is open to all so come along in your most outrageous hat, you could win a giant Easter egg. A bucket collection will be held, so please support one of the oldest amateur theatre companies, not only in the town but in the country. Judging begins at 11.30am.

A coffee morning and bric-a-brac stall will be held at Newtown Methodist Church Hall in Great Yarmouth on Wednesday . The event will be between 10.15am and noon.

Visitors to Fritton Lake on Sunday will get the chance to be landscape detectives as park warden Stuart Burgess leads a three-mile walk to look at the lakes history. Final preparations are underway for Gorleston Theatre Company's Easter production, Now That's What We Call Broadway, at the Pavilion Theatre. The show is a mixture of singing and dancing with songs from contemporary Broadway and West End musicals ranging from solo appearances to full chorus numbers, and features music from several award winning musicals including Rent, Avenue Q, “Wicked” and Spamalot. Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7.30pm with a matinee performance on the Saturday at 2pm. Tickets from the box office on 01493 662832.
