Bits and bobs from across the borough

l AUTHOR and local historian Colin Tooke is giving a talk next month on shops and shopping in Yarmouth. Called Turnback Time, the event is taking place at the Furzedown Hotel, North Drive, on Friday, February 25, at 7.30pm. Tickets at �10, including steak and ale pie or vegetarian option, are available from Paul Davies on 01493 843647, the Priory Centre or Brahams. Proceeds from the evening are being donated to St Nicholas Church Preservation Trust.

l Hemsby Harlequins present the pantomime Snow White in the village hall from Friday, January 28 to Sunday, January 30. Performances take place at 7.30pm on Friday and Saturday and 2pm Sunday. An extra matinee will take place on Saturday at 2pm. Tickets, �4, are available from Hemsby Spar Video Shop (Sparkles) and Hemsby Post Office. Proceeds will go to good causes.

l An art exhibition showing off some of the best home-grown talent is continuing in Great Yarmouth. From Monday to Friday, 10am-2pm the St James Health and Resource Centre will be displaying a range of works, including pieces from local artists, Great Yarmouth College and Centre 81.

Ranging from acrylic to drawings to computer-enhanced art work, subjects include local landscapes, scenes of Yarmouth town, as well as pets, plants, people and abstracts. Artists can show their work for free if there is space and some items are available for sale.
