Band (or artist) name?

Jess Morgan

Members' names

Just me!

Where are you all from/where did you meet?

I'm from Acle - started playing acoustic guitar and writing songs at University in York.

Instruments played?

Vocals and guitar mostly - jack of all trades: master of none!

Sounds like (style of music)?

Folk with Americana

Influenced by?

British folk music and British singer-songwriters and well as North American folk, classic country, bluegrass and North American singer-songwriters.

Best known song?

I wrote a terrible song called 'Chips and Tongues' when I lived in London a few years ago. I don't play the song anymore, but it did get me quite a bit of attention from the industry for a while... which gave me a confidence boost.

Where can I listen to you?

Try my website: www.jessmorgan.co.uk - you can listen to all sorts of things and there is also a host of videos and things.

You can also order my album 'All Swell' which was released on April 12. Otherwise good old Myspace - www.myspace.com/jessmorganacoustic

Where can I see you live?

Currently on tour - playing the Grapevine at Bedfords in Norwich on Wednesday, May 26.

Do any band members play in other bands?

No.

What's your favourite song of all time?

That's tricky. Possibly - 'Queen of the New Year' by Deacon Blue or 'The Shoop Shoop Song.'

What is your favourite song of your own?

I like a song called 'Due Grace Coming' - it's the opening track on the album. I often open with it live too because it's nice and gentle and helps me warm up my voice and calm my nerves.

Who writes your songs?

I write all my own stuff.

First gig?

The first band I ever saw live probably would have been my Dad's band: 'Serious Risk'

And then my mum took me to see my first concert when I was probably about eight or nine - to see 'T-Rextasy' at the Theatre Royal. It was awesome!

Best ever gig?

I recently supported a band called First Aid Kit at Norwich Arts Centre. Those girls can sing! They had the audience in the palm of their hands and, without meaning to sound too geeky, it was a great learning experience for me. I've also seen Judy Collins play as well - that was great.

What do you want to achieve?

I want to write great songs - the kind of songs that people remember.
