GREAT Yarmouth and the county's best young actors and actresses, a puppeteer and even a horn section are being sought for a production at the Norwich Playhouse next April.

Norfolk Youth Music Theatre, the county's premier youth drama company are to perform The Secret Garden, based on the much loved children's classic by Frances Hodgson Burnett, at The Norwich Playhouse in April and bookings are now open for auditions to be held between January 7 - 16.

After a notable coup in staging the East Anglian premier of Picnic at Hanging Rock in November involving a master class with the show's composer and creator, the company has landed the services of another respected London director, Wendy Cook, who will be working with the cast for the April production.

Norfolk YMT artistic director Adrian Connell said: “Ages for this show are between 10 and 25 (Apart from the three main children's parts, Mary, Colin and Dickon, there are some wonderful adult roles, Mrs Medock, Martha and the two lead male roles of Archie and Dr Craven.

“I am looking for people with real commitment for this magical show and a puppeteer to help with the Robin, who features heavily in the story.”

Singers for two choruses, and many cameo roles are also on offer for the show, and the company is also on the look out for a flautist, trumpet, two horn players, a trombone player and a good grade pianist.
