ALL prospective entrants for the 39th Gorleston St Andrew's Competitive Festival must send in their applications by January 31 to the co-ordinator. Adjudicators for this year are Gary Sieling judging piano, keyboard and organ; Anthony Cain judging strings, orchestras, ensembles and guitar; Melanie Ragge judging woodwind, recorder and brass; Trevor Hughes judging singing and choirs; and Norma Redfearn judging speech and drama.

Classes will be held as usual in the Chapter House, St Andrew's Church, Gorleston and details of timings will be published in the Festival Programme, which will be available in February and may be ordered by prospective entrants.

Attention is drawn to the various syllabus changes for 2009:-

A new “World Music Class” will be included for all instrumentalists playing instruments of other cultures.

There are different groupings for the singing trophies.

A new Adult Pop Song Trophy will be awarded.

There is an alteration to the Junior Unison Choir Class.

New classes for Pipe Organ will be held, using the organ in St Andrew's Church.

A “Reluctant Organist Workshop” for any pianist wishing to try their hand at playing the St Andrew's Church organ is to be held on Saturday, March 21. Please contact the Festival Co-ordinator to book a place.
