A record number of musical acts are booked to play this summer on the Rotary bandstand at Gorleston seafront – with a series of free-to-watch performances.
The programme, organised by Great Yarmouth Borough Council, is a series of unticketed concerts, which aims to add to the traditional family holiday atmosphere that Gorleston is famous for.
There are currently 20 acts signed-up to play between this Sunday and late September, compared to just four bands booked last year. Most acts came forward following an appeal for musical performers in the Mercury.
Among those who got in contact are acclaimed London-based rock band, The Fruitful Earth, who will be playing songs from their new album, Rising Sun, on Saturday, August 8, between 2pm and 4pm.
All other concerts are on Sundays, 2-4pm.
So far, seven local acts are booked to play as part of the Gorleston Makes Music event, run by the Rotary Club of Gorleston on Sea, on Sunday, August 30.
In addition, four brass bands are signed up to play during the summer.
