Organisers are already primping the pumps for this year’s Gorleston Clifftop Festival with an appeal for sponsors and volunteers.

This year’s event will take place on July 28 and 29 and aims to welcome back the popular helicopter rides which hug the clifftops and gives daredevils a great view of the stall and arena action below.

Spokesman Vicky Smith said the 14-strong committee was already lining up a great spread of activities for the 2012 event, the 15th since it was re-launched after a break.

She said: “Existing organisers of the event are pleased to welcome Josh Webber on to the committee after he offered his services last year along with his brother, Mike.

“The pair’s grafting from first thing Friday morning to mid afternoon Monday was hugely appreciated by the committee along with the efforts of other volunteers who came on board. Josh’s enthusiasm towards the event has set him up to have a large involvement in the 2012 weekend.

“Visitors can expect to experience the same fun and frolics as in previous years along with the return of the popular and successful human library.

“It is also hoped that the 15th anniversary will see the comeback of the helicopter which, unfortunately, did not attend last year’s event.”

Last year the event was rocked by uncertainty but saved by the generosity of event sponsors who kept the festival going especially after added costs were incurred only a few weeks before kick off.

Organisers are once again encouraging any local firms willing to assist financially to get in contact and help them in making 2012’s two day event the best and most fun-filled that this tranquil stretch of Norfolk coast has seen yet.
