THE Hippodrome in Great Yarmouth brings back the Rock n' Roll tomorrow night with the circular auditorium hosting the recreation of Buddy Holly's fateful 1959 Winter Dance Party tour which ended in disaster.

On January 23, 1959 Buddy Holly began a string of dates across the American mid-west. The Winter Dance Party Tour included Ritchie Valens, The Big Bopper, Dion and the Belmonts, Frankie Sardo and of course Buddy himself.

The tour faced atrocious “Artic-like” weather conditions, and the situation aggravated by the bus with no heater, constantly breaking down, lead to the fateful choice to travel to the next gig on a small private plane which crashed.

This tribute show brings the early songs, such as Buddy's Blue Days Black Nights to True Love Ways and It Doesn't Matter Anymore; The Big Bopper's Chantilly Lace, Running Bear and White Lightning; Ritchie's La Bamba, Come On Let's Go', Donna and Dion's The Wanderer, Runaround Sue and Teenager In Love.

The Winter Dance Party 2009, starting at 7.30pm, proves that the music did not die but lives on and is relevant as ever.

Featured artistes include Mark Robinson as Buddy Holly, Michael King as Dion and Tim Harwood as Richie Valens.
