THERE can be few better ways to enjoy a Sunday morning in late spring than walking through the lanes, fields and woods of quiet and peaceful countryside.

THERE can be few better ways to enjoy a Sunday morning in late spring than walking through the lanes, fields and woods of quiet and peaceful countryside.

And this year, the Rotary Club of Great Yarmouth is extending options to include riverside stretches in its Spring Charity Walk, to be held on May 16 at Acle.

Having held eight walks at Somerleyton, organisers decided the time had come for a change of location.

The Acle area offers all the basic requirements to stage this year's event along the same popular lines as before, enabling many local causes to benefit from sponsorship raised. Three routes will be available: a short walk of 5.7 miles, medium of 7.8 miles and a long walk of 9.9 miles.

Entries must be in by Friday, April 30. While it may be possible to accept some on the day, the club stresses that numbers may have to be limited.

There is an entry fee of 5 per adult and 2 for those aged 14-17 but under-14s go free.

Registration on the day will be at Acle Recreation Centre from 8.45am to 10.45am; long route 8.45am to 9.45am. The event, to include refresh-ments en route and at the end of the walk, will close at 1.45pm.
