A NEW community choir inspired by the US phenomenon Glee is singing out for members.

The Voices Show Choir is aimed at serious singers aged 10 and over – with no upper age limit – who enjoy singing and want to hone their performance skills.

The choir will meet in Gorleston on a Wednesday 7.40pm to 9pm to rehearse various styles of music but with a more modern, “funky” twist.

Samantha Hawkins, who is setting it up, said: “You will meet once a week with an aim to perform around the area and further afield from outdoor events to theatres. As a member of Voices you will have many opportunities to shine. “Performing songs from all genres including pop, gospel and musical theatre, Voices has a diverse repertoire to be enjoyed by all.”

Samantha studied singing and piano tuition from a young age and by the age of 18 had achieved distinction in Grade 8 Musical Theatre with the London College of Music. She gained a dance and drama award to train at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts London before undertaking a professional career in theatre.

She hopes to recruit around 15 people of all ages and already knows of one candidate in her 70s.
