Gorleston welcomes Salvation Army Brass band

THE Norfolk Fellowship Brass of the Salvation Army make their first appearance at Gorleston Pavilion theatre tonight at 7.30pm.
Brass by the Sea will feature around 30 musicians conducted by musical director David Woodrow.
Among the items performed will be a selection of familiar tunes including The Floral Dance and Colonel Bogey, with the audience given a chance to join in the whistling. There will be a range of Salvation Army style music and an arrangement of the hymn, Such Love, as well traditional marches and Leroy Anderson’s novelty item, the Sandpaper Ballet.
Tony Mallion is host for the concert. Tickets are �8 on the door with proceeds in aid of the appeal.
A QUIZ evening is taking place at the Grosvenor Casino in Great Yarmouth on Saturday, April 2.
The evening begins at 7.30pm, but participants need to register to gain free entry to the casino. Entry is for over 18s who must bring ID. Tickets are �2 with a maximum of six per team.The quiz night is raising money for Hearing Dogs for the Deaf. AN EXTEND active exercise to music class for the over 60s and less able people will be held at South Walsham Village Hall on Tuesday from 2pm. Cost is �3 per session. A further EXTEND Active class will be held at Bracecamp Parish Hall, Ormesby St Margaret, from 11am on Wednesday. Cost is �3 per session. An EXTEND Seated class will be held at the Club Room in Main Road, Filby from 10.15am on Friday. Cost is �3 per session. A midweek EXTEND Seated class will be held at Mill Crescent in Acle at 2.30pm on Wednesday. Cost is �3 per session. DR Richard Hoggett, Norfolk’s Coastal Heritage Officer, is giving a talk called Norfolk’s Coastal Heritage, about the myriad wonderful finds on the coast of Norfolk, especially at Happisburgh. The talk also includes details of shipwreck discoveries and the Seahenge found off Holme beach. The talk is at Gorleston Library on Wednesday at 2.30pm and Caister Library on Wednesday, March 23 at 2.30pm. Free admission to both talks.
AUDITIONS are taking place for The Variety of Life show at Gorleston Pavilion Theatre on Sunday, March 27, from 2pm. Producers are looking for people with all sorts of unusual and unique talents alongside those who can sing and dance. STUDENTS from the University of East Anglia are bringing a range of fun activities for children to Norwich Castle Museum – from making optical illusions to seeing how animals communicate through their poo.
The Look Who’s Talking events take place on Saturday and Sunday and have been organised as part of National Science and Engineering Week. Norwich Castle Museum is open from 10am-4.30pm on Saturday, and from 1-4.30pm on Sunday.
A CHARITY evening at the Cliff Hotel in Gorleston on March 25 will help children in need of organ transplants. The fund-raiser has been organised by the parents of teenager Chloe Goodrum who underwent a kidney transplant as a child. The show is raising cash for Evelina Children’s Hospital team.
