We all know comedian Arthur Smith; the self styled Mayor of Balham and loveable grumpy old man. Now the chain-smoking gravelly-voiced stalwart of TV, radio and an ever present headliner on the UK comedy scene is coming to St George’s Theatre in Great Yarmouth for a very special night of comedy.

The Weird Coastal Buoys comedy night at St George’s is coming of age on October 9 with a specially themed show where the famously “grumpy old man” Arthur Smith headlines an evening of hilarious senior moments.

Billing the evening as Life in the Old Dogs, WCB promoter Paul Dunn said: “We wanted to show the young ‘uns how it’s done. You don’t need skinny jeans and a bionic hair cut to be funny and you don’t stop being funny when you start taking Sanatogen. If my 90 year old grandmother is anything to go by you carry on getting battier but even funnier as you get older!”

Alternative comedian Arthur was one of many born out of the 1980s alternative explosion still performing today and regularly attending the Edinburgh Festival.

Arthur has also known for penning brilliant stage plays such as the much loved An Evening with Gary Lineker.

Radio 4 listeners will also know Arthur from performing in musical comedy shows such as Arthur Smith Sings Leonard Cohen where he presents on such programmes as Excess Baggage and Loose Ends. He frequently appeared on television on comedy panel games and was notably one of the Grumpy Old Men in the TV series of that name.
