Take a glance in the Magic Mirror and you could be forgiven for thinking that Compo’s heart’s desire has been re-incarnated, translated from Yorkshire to Norfolk. But look again. The curlers may be there, but the expression is not nearly so sour. Helen McDermott is the face and voice of the Magic Mirror.

“Makes a change from being the Good Fairy,” she said, having waved her wand at Gorleston for the past ten years. Now she patiently answers the wicked Queen Evilena each time she asks who is the fairest of them all, meanwhile plotting against the innocent Snow White.

But love and laughter win the day, and there is happiness ever after.

Following her success in last year’s panto Yasmin Soraya Cocca returns to take the title role in a script by Des Barrit, who directs the show.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs opens at the Pavilion on December 10 and runs until January 4. Hurry and book, because some performances are already sold out. Oh, yes they are! Better to be Happy than Grumpy, wouldn’t you say?
