The Gorleston-designed sets will take centre stage when the The Hoff brings his new musical to Norwich Theatre Royal next week.

David Hasselhoff takes on the lead role in the Nineties-set musical Last Night A DJ Saved My Life which takes to the stage on Monday and Tuesday February 1 and 2.

Presented by the team behind another high-energy stage hit Boogie Nights, it sees the former Knight Rider and Baywatch star play an extrovert DJ and nightclub owner in Ibiza who enjoys the party lifestyle.

Unfortunately, his life is set to change with the arrival of his daughter Penny, played by The Voice contestant Stephanie Webber, who shares many of his traits and forces him to reassess his life.

The all-star cast in the show also features Kim Tiddy, who played PC Honey Harman in The Bill and Heidi Costello in Hollyoaks, as The Hoff’s partner Mandy. Also in the show playing Rik, who catches the eye of Penny and vice versa, is actor and entertainer Shane Richie Jr.

It also boasts a soundtrack featuring a host of favourite songs from the Nineties including Ride On Time, Saturday Night, Things Can Only Get Better, Spice Up Your Life, and You Can’t Touch This.

Last Night A Dj Saved My Life also boasts local links off-stage as it was designed by Ben Andrews from the Gorleston-based set designers 3D Creations, whose work ranges from West End shows to lavish sets for cruise-liners, as well as creating the backdrops for the hugely popular Cromer Pier Seaside Special show.

Meanwhile the Hoff himself cannot wait to bring his latest show to Norwich and bring some sunshine to a city winter. He said: “See it. Believe it. Live it. This is my motto and I am living it now. I absolutely love live theatre and the interaction with the audience. To play a character that I can relate to while celebrating an era of fantastic music is going to be Hoff-tastic.

“This is going to be a great production and I can’t wait to see the audience reaction in Norwich. I guarantee they will be singing all night long.”

Last Night A DJ Saved My Life, starts at 7.30pm. Tickets £8-£35.50. Signed performance on Tues at 7.30pm.
