REDWINGS Horse Sanctuary re-opened its Caldecott visitor centre near Great Yarmouth after its winter closing, yesterday Thursday .

A spokeswoman said; “To make the opening weekend even more special adoption pony Icky, a handsome boy with pretty mottled spotted markings, is having a birthday party on Easter Sunday and is inviting his adoptive mum and dads as well as the public to come along and wish him many happy returns.”

“Spotty” Icky will be 20 years old, and has lived at the Sanctuary since he was found by Redwings at a horse sale in 1991 severely and pitifully emaciated. His real name is Haw Idris, the name given to him when he was born and registered with the British Spotted Pony Society.

Entry to the centre and the party is free.

To support Redwings, music teacher Mary Hardy Green has organised a variety concert to be staged at Hemsby community centre on Friday March 28. She says the show will encompass new and experienced talent. Tickets are £5 for 7pm start.
