THE work of a former Great Yarmouth hotelier is set to be sold at a painting exhibition in Holt from today, Friday.

Landscapes, watercolours and acrylics by Peter Metcalf, who used to run Barons Court Hotel in Norfolk Square, will be among the collections at Holt's Picturecraft Gallery between August 14 and August 19.

Mr Metcalf, who died in 2004 aged 59, was a member of the Great Yarmouth District Society of Artists from 1991 until his death and painted for over 20 years.

His collection boasts many colourful images of the Norfolk countryside and he staged 15 one man exhibitions in galleries across the country. His work was done mainly in oil and watercolour.

A donation from the sale of the former Norwich man's paintings will be made to the ME Society, which helps people suffering from the chronic fatigue syndrome. Mr Metcalf himself suffered from the condition.
