AN INNOVATIVE street theatre group based in Great Yarmouth is looking for young recruits to help bring laughter and entertainment to the streets of the town and beyond at the end of the month and in December.

Hoy! a group run by Norfolk County Council children's services, is based at York Sports Hall, in York Road, and is seeking more young people aged from 11 to 19 who enjoy singing, dancing and acting.

The initiative is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Organiser Rachel Darnell said they were hoping to go out on a performance before the end of the month and would like youngsters to get in touch as soon a possible.

She added: “The essence of the project is that it's fun. The group have two sessions a week on Monday and Thursday evenings where the

young people develop characters, work on improvisation skills, write scripts, design, and produce and perform. “They also visit local historic places to research the history and colourful characters of the past.”

Rachel said that in the near future they would also be working on costume and poster designs and scriptwriting, and eventually they would present live performances throughout Yarmouth.
