MORE entrants are needed to take part in the Hopton Carnival and Fete on August 16. Organised by Yarmouth Lions Club and Hopton Parish Council, the carnival will involve walkers and marching bands, no large vehicles, trailers or floats are needed.

The procession will start outside the Hopton Holiday Park and walk the short distance down Station Road before entering the back gate of the playing fields via Anglian Way and Walters Close.

There is no particular theme although organisers would like to see scarecrows on bikes, skateboards, in prams, wheelbarrows or on foot to complement the scarecrow photograph competition being held on August 14.

The Women's Institute will be out in force in St Tinian's uniforms and an appeal has gone out to other clubs to join in the fun.

The bowls club are also taking part and there will be plenty of activities in the fete, being opened by mayor and mayoress Tony and Sara Smith, from donkey rides to bouncy castles, icecreams, candyfloss, food and Blackfriars Brewery beer. There will be a raffle on the day for a 19inch TV and other prizes.

Acts including EFX, Endeavour Rangers, Charisma Twirlers and TS Norfolk will take part.

Dog agility for all will be take place in the afternoon as will a specialised dog show with rosettes sponsored by the Lions Club.
