THE Gospel flavoured Blessed Be - the Musical which combines all vocalists and choir members from churches in the borough is to be staged at the Piazza Showbar in the Marina Centre, Great Yarmouth on April 10, 11 and 12.

Press officer Clare Winter said that if anyone thinks religion is boring, they may care to think again.

She said: “We dare you to laugh and cry with us in our exciting new musical, Blessed Be. The show is guaranteed to make you think about how we live today and uplift you with its energising original music score and inspiring, humorous drama based on the Beatitudes, The Sermon the Mount. The scenes depict each of the teachings, 'Blessed are the poor in Spirit, blessed are the pure in heart.'”

The production of Blessed Be was created by Rachel Clarke from Gorleston. Carol Clayton of the Regent School of Music together with Rev Ian Worsfold have written the musical score. Patricia Doherty, also of Gorleston, directs the show.

Clare said: “The production is enhanced by the presence of a large choir and musicians drawn from members of multi-denominational churches in the district together with an enchanting group of dancers from the Norfolk Academy of Ballet under the direction of Jennifer Dunnell. The roof of the Piazza Showbar will be lifted, hopefully not by the recent winds, but by the exhilarating sound of the Samba Magdalena Band under the direction of Mac McCarthy.”

The show will run for three nights at 7.30pm on April 10, 11 and 12 at the Marina Centre. Tickets are available by ringing 01493 665374 priced £5 for adults £4 for under 16s.

All profits will go to the East Anglian Air Ambulance and Shelter.
