Talent is helping to put cancer charities in the spotlight at a variety show, Live @ St George’s, on Saturday night.

The evening, in the newly-completed St George’s Theatre in Great Yarmouth has been organised by former mayor Barry Coleman in aid of two charities: Cancer Research UK and Leukaemia and Lymphona Research, both close to his heart with family members affected.

The show was originally conceived while Mr Coleman was still the mayor and would have taken place during his year in office had the building been ready on time, but the idea of a fund raising show stayed with him.

“There is a hardly a family that has not been affected by cancer,” said Mr Coleman. “And we want to raise as much as possible with local talent showing the way.”

Sponsors have dug deep into their pockets, including Blackwell Printers who have supplied leaflets advertising the event billed as a family night out.

The full line-up includes Winterton Marine Drummers, Martham Handbells, Edwards Worlledge Junior School Year 5, Marilyn Durrant, Thomas Major and Scott Ribbons from Woodlands Primary School, Velvet Kittens dancing the Can-Can, Martham Primary Choral Society, Emma Seamarks and Ellie Howes, Hanton and Dean, John Stephens and Melody, Mrs Mopp, Edward Worlledge Adults and a finale which promises to be spectacular.

Live @ St Georges is on Saturday, March 16 at 7.30pm.

Tickets £8 for adults and £5 for under 16s, are available from the St George’s box office on 01493 331484, from Mr Coleman on 01493 740782 or online at stgeorgestheatre.com.
