The last few seats are still up for grabs to see Gorleston Theatre Company’s production of Oliver!

The production began its runs on Wednesday night at the Pavilion and the last few shows will play out tonight and over the weekend.

The show has proved a hit with audiences and the cast alike, with everyone enjoying the familiar music and songs of the show.

Even the children in the cast, who are playing the workhouse boys and Fagin’s gang, all know the tunes despite some being as young as seven and eight. Director Marilyn Durrant said: “Oliver! is just one of those shows that everyone knows from an early age, whether it’s the stage show or the film.

“It’s like Annie in that nearly all children get to know the characters and music from an early age, and it’s one of those shows that they will watch time and time again.”

Some familiar faces from Gorleston Theatre Company have taken on roles in the production as well as some newcomers to the group.

Chris Moore is playing Bill Sikes alongside Harriet Shields as Nancy and Jessica Grey as Bet, while Craig Lovett takes the part of Fagin.

Mr Bumble and Widow Forney are played by brother and sister duo Matthew Cantwell and Julia Knight, and the Sowerberrys are played by David Cooper and Gloria Dashwood.

Gorleston Theatre Company’s run of Oliver! continues tonight until Sunday, with performances tonight and tomorrow at 7.30pm and matinees at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets available online at www.gorlestonpavilion.com, by phone on 01493 662832 or in person at the Pavilion box office.
