Music, comedy and song from the First World War era takes to the stage at St George’s Theatre.
From the producer of We’ll Meet Again Duggie Chapman MBE is bringing a brand new wartime variety show to mark 100 years since the start of the conflict.
The show stars comedy entertainer Steve Barclay, bringing impressions of the wartime comedians, and Britain’s greatest virtuoso of the ukulele, Andy Eastwood.
A new singing star Lucia Matisse will be bringing the songs of Dame Vera Lynn and Gracie Fields along with a touch of Ann Shelton to the show.
With a full supporting cast of singers Jamie Steen remembers Bing Crosby and Donald Peers and Al Bowlly, with Mervyn Francis, former singer from the Black and White Minstrel Show.
With live music from the Martyn St James Band it is billed as an afternoon show with a tribute to the Armed Forces.
A spokesman said: “With all the great songs and music of the war years this is damp eye nostalgia that leaves everyone with a warm and sentimental glow.”
One in ten seats free for group bookings.
