THE Nelson Monument in Great Yarmouth will be open this weekend for guided tours between 10am and 4pm.
The grade 1 listed monument was completed in 1817 as a tribute to Admiral Lord Nelson. It stands 44 metres (144 feet) high and offers breathtaking views across the Norfolk countryside and Outer Harbour.
Tours for two people at a time, last 30 minutes and cost �6 per person.
Trained guides are on hand to explain the monument's construction, history and restoration as well as its links with Lord Nelson.
To book a tour call the Nelson Museum on 01493 850698. Un-booked tours will be sold at the monument on the day, subject to availability.
Further weekend opening dates are June 12/13; July 10/11; August 14/15; September 11/12; October 2/3.
