DOROTHY and her friends from the Wizard if Oz were joined by a few flying monkeys in Great Yarmouth over the weekend as the cast from the Dragons Stage School were visiting the town centre to promote its forthcoming Oz tribute show, the Emerald City.

The original Wizard of Oz colour film was made in 1939 and launched the career of 17 year old singer-actress Judy Garland. To celebrate the 70th anniversary the Dragons school has written a very special adaptation which not only covers Dorothy's adventures in Oz but also explores the characters she finds there.

There is also new music written by local members of local folk group, Mulberry Hawk. The cast of young performers from Caister are all aged between eight and 18.

The performances will be at 7pm over four nights starting on bank holiday Monday May 5, Tuesday 6, Wednesday 7 and Friday 9 at the Marina Centre stage, Great Yarmouth. Tickets are priced at £8 and £4 available from the centre on 01493 851521. Special group rates for schools and clubs are available by calling the stage school on 07949 225193.
