THE world famous Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra is heading to Great Yarmouth's Hippodrome Circus next week for a concert featuring works by Elgar, Chopin and Brahms.

The 90 musicians, led by conductor Jacek Kaspszyk, are coming to the town at the start of their UK tour.

The November 10 concert will mark the start of the 2nd Great Yarmouth International Concert series staged by SeaChange Arts.

SeaChange is appealing to local businesses to support the concerts by purchasing blocks of seats and sponsoring ones offered to schools and colleges. Tickets start at 6 for under-26 year-olds, and the most expensive seats are 25 and 28, concessions available.

The series includes three symphony concerts and a solo piano recital, and many people have taken advantage of a subscription deal which offers top price tickets for all four events at 70.

The opening concert will feature soloist Mikhail Rudy performing Chopin's Piano Concerto Number One. It will start with Elgar's overture In the South, inspired by the composer's love of Italy, and ends with Brahms' epic Symphony Number One.

In February, the Czech National Symphony Orchestra will play classical favourites, the Bruch Violin Concerto and Dvorak's Symphony Number Nine The New World. The programme will open with the well-known Bartered Bride overture written by Smetana.

In March, Russian pianist Nikolai Demidenko will give a solo recital of poular works by Chopin and Beethoven, and the series ends in April with the European Union Chamber Orchestra and soloist Freddie Kempf in a programme which includes Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik and Barber's Adagio for Strings.

Tickets for all concerts from the Hippodrome box office on 01493 844172 and the Theatre Royal box office on 01603 630000.
