THE Philharmonia Orchestra together with more than over 850 children and special guests are to team up to celebrate The Prince's Foundation for Children and the Arts and Classic FM MusicMakers charity specialist project, MusicQuest in a grand finale concert at the Hippodrome, Great Yarmouth.

MusicQuest, the orchestral music project for children designed by The Prince's Foundation for Children and the Arts, is wholly funded by the Classic FM Music Makers charity and supported by Yamaha Music UK. The project is drawing to the close of its second year in a series of five regional finale concerts.

The local concert is to be held the Hippodrome, Great Yarmouth on Friday, February 13. Twenty-five members of the Philharmonia orchestra will be performing, and the children will be attending the concert and they will be introduced to orchestral music for the first time.

Star guest Clare Jones, the official royal harpist to The Prince of Wales will also be in the audience.

There is also a chance for children to win 10,000 of musical instruments from Yamaha with their music composing skills.

Rick Wills, chairman of the Prince's Foundation for Children and the Arts said: “Classical music is surrounded with such mystique that it can be hard to find out what you enjoy and what you don't!”

Peter Jay, owner of the Hippodrome, himself a musician, said: “Learning to play an instrument is one of the most enriching things a person can do in their life and stays with them throughout the whole of their time on this planet . We are all delighted to be a part of this national initiative and to turn youngsters on to the amazing delight of classical music.”

On the morning of the finale concert, children from Fen Park Community Primary School, Fleggburgh C of E (VC) Primary School, Herman Primary School, North Denes Middle School, Poplars Community Primary School, St Mary's Roman Catholic Primary School, St Nicholas Priory Junior School, Winterton Primary School, Stradbroke Primary School, Fairhaven Primary School, Brompton and Ringford federated schools, Cobholm and Homefield will participate in a hands on, workshop delivered to them at school by members of the Philharmonia Orchestra.
