The Tremeloes, Herman's Hermits, and Union Gap will be starring in the Sensational '60s Experience on Friday, October 1.

Mercury reporter Miles Jermy spoke with The Tremeloes' singer and drummer Dave Munden this week about his life with the band.

With a list of hits including Silence is Golden, Twist and Shout, Do You Love Me, Here Comes My Baby and Even the Bad Times are Good, The Tremeloes remain one of the most popular '60s bands doing their stuff on the gig circuit.

Dagenham-born Dave has been enjoying the rock and roll lifestyle for the last 50 years and still gets a buzz from being on the road.

He said: “When I first joined the band I was really only interested in being a singer, but the drummer was unreliable so I was asked to do that as well.

“I was 16 at that time and never imagined it would be my whole life. I'm over 60 now and count myself lucky to have spent my life doing something I love.

“I am the only constant band member - others left and came back, so I suppose I kept The Tremeloes going over the years.

“It is great getting out on the road and we have a good time. Our fans are always asking us if we remember them, it is like meeting old friends.

Influenced by Buddy Holly and the Everly Brothers, the band were signed by Decca Records after auditioning at the same time as The Beatles, who were turned down by the label.

The show is being hosted by Alan Mosca from Freddie and the Dreamers and has been playing to packed houses all over the country.
