AN afternoon of music from internationally renowned pianist Nikolai Demidenko is taking place later this month. The afternoon recital, a part of Great Yarmouth's International Concert Series, will be held at 3pm at the Hippodrome on Sunday, March 21.

The afternoon recital, a part of Great Yarmouth's International Concert Series, will be held at 3pm at the Hippodrome on Sunday, March 21.

Russian born Nikolai Demidenko is known for his grace and intense musicality and began playing on his grandfather's old piano at the age of five.

He progressed to eventually studying at the Moscow Conservatoire and then went on to teach at the Yehudi Menhuin School in the UK before being granted British citizenship in 1995.

The Yarmouth concert features three of Beethoven's most recognisable sonatas including Fur Therese and the Moonlight Sonata, as well as interpretations of Chopin in the second half.

The concert is the third in the series following on from performances by the Polish National Radio Symphony and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra.

“The series is gaining momentum after an outstanding performance from the Czech National Symphony last month.

“The Hippodrome is a fantastic, evocative venue where, despite its size, the audience is able to share a tremendous intimacy with the performers.”
