Romance and scandal with Mr Darcy and Miss Bennet
The Pantaloons are staging Pride and Predjudice at Fairhaven, South Walsham - Credit: Archant
Jane Austen’s literary classic Pride and Prejudice gets the full Pantaloons treatment in an innovative new adaptation, being performed at Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden in South Walsham tonight (Friday).
“We are known for being somewhat silly,” explained Pantaloons writer and director Mark Hayward.
“But we stay faithful to what it is that people love about the book in the first place.
“This production will hopefully give Austen fans what they are looking for in a staging of Pride and Prejudice - the romance, the scandals - while at the same time providing a great introduction to those who are new to the story, and also interweaving the elements that make a show intrinsically Pantaloony.”
The Pantaloons are known for their anarchic retelling of classic works of literature including Bleak House, Sherlock Holmes and The Canterbury Tales.
Tonight’s show starts at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £11 adult, £9 concessions and £6 child in advance, or adult £13, concessions £11 and child £8 on the door (under 5 free).
