THE monthly professional concert for the Great Yarmouth keyboard music club will feature an accomplished player of the electronic and pipe organs, grand piano and accordion.

Matthew Bason, who will be playing his Yamaha EL90 electronic keyboard, has toured in Europe and the USA and also teaches, and this will be his first performance for the club.

He won the American theatre organ society's 'young organist of the year' award in 1999 and followed it with the Dean Herrick award the next year. His last appearance in the area was at the Cavalcade Organ Extravaganza in Pakefield, where he received a standing ovation after giving a recreation of the piano accompaniment to an old silent film.

The concert will be held on Wednesdayand the concert starts at 7.45pm at the Masonic Assembly Rooms, with tickets costing �5 for members and �6 for non-members.

As part of the 40th Ruby Anniversary celebrations of the Gorleston St Andrew's Competitive Festival, there will be a Ceilidh evening on Saturday March 13, from 6-9pm, in the Chapter House, St Andrew's Church, Gorleston. The Ceilidh will be led by the Tutti Ceilidh Band, which has become a popular feature of the festival in recent years, and admission charge to the Ceilidh for adults is �2.50 and for children 50p.

Band The Wild Ones will be playing a number of gigs in the Great Yarmouth borough over the next couple of weeks.

The sixties rock and pop band, influenced by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Troggs, will appear tomorrow at Gorleston Social Club, then on February 27 at The Seadell Bar in Hemsby. The final gig will be at The Seabreeze Bar in Hemsby on March 20.

Half-term fun is promised at Freehand Theatre Company's captivating puppet show Who's Been Sitting in my Chair? at Fleggburgh Village Hall on Wednesday at 2.30pm. This is an enchanting musical presentation of the well-known tale. It is the depths of winter and the bears won't wake up - but spring puts a spring in the steps and when a small bear gets lost everyone goes on a bear hunt. Adult Education is offering a two hour introduction session for lip reading, followed by a free five week course for those people with acquired hearing loss. The sessions will run on a Tuesday afternoon from April 20, 1.30 to 3.30pm at Great Yarmouth Library. To register your interest call 01493 856647 or come along to the library.

All are welcome to the Out of the Ashes Band Valentine's Bop at Hopton on Sea Village Hall on Saturday February 13.
