THE third Scarecrow Festival in Martham is this weekend - and it promises to be bigger and better, with around 100 scarecrows appearing in many places around the village.

The festival and garage and garden sale, is on Sunday and Monday, but there is also a treasure hunt, art exhibition and much more.

There is a map of the village available where scarecrows and garage/garden sales are located - and visitors are asked to call on the organisers for help and they will point people in the right direction.

The organisers have their own stall in a large marquee on the Green and here there will be good quality books, CDs, DVDs and clothes. Money raised from this will be used to support Just4U Youth Group/Martham Youth and Community Centre and to enhance village events.

In the special festival booklet, there is the question sheets for the treasure hunt, with all the clues. All answers must be returned no later than 4pm on Monday.Raffle tickets will also be on sale.

Refreshments will be available from outlets on the village green and also from businesses around the village.

While walking around the village visitors can take time to stop off at the Methodist Chapel where inside there will be scarecrows and refreshments; St Mary's Church is holding an art exhibition with the works of art for sale. And there is also an opportunity to climb the tower and see the village from a bird's eye view - or enjoy a cup of tea.

There will be “living” scarecrows at Martham Grouped Homes as well as a sale of goods, refreshments and cream teas.

On Sunday the village hall will be full of stalls to browse around, organised by Holiday Homes for the Disabled.

On both Sunday and Monday there will be craft and charity stalls on the Green.

A special Songs of Praise at 5.30pm on Sunday will take place of the Green by the Co-op and a fair is open on the Green from today until Monday. A donation from this event will be given to Just4U Youth Group/Martham Community Centre.

So it's all happening this weekend in Martham!
