POTENTIAL karaoke stars will have an ideal platform from which to exercise their vocal talent in Great Yarmouth

The Golfers Arms on North Denes Road has launched its search for a star. Last year Craig Smith representing the pub made it all the way through to the grand final which was held at Camelot. This year the Golfers is hoping to go one better and find the winner.

Heats will be held every other Sunday with the next heat being on Sunday then every two weeks until the last heat on May 11.

The Golfers final night will be on Sunday May 18 with a pub cash prize of £150 going to the winner. He or she will be going on to sing in the regional final with a chance to make the national final and win the £ 3,000 first prize and a day in the recording studio with professional musicians and producers.

Dilys Waterhouse, the pub's landlady said: “The competition is going from strength to strength. We have averaged eight singers per heat so far and are really expecting things to warm up as the competition proceeds.”

The Pub winner will go on to represent the venue in the regional heats in June and July. The selected finalists will then take part in the Grand Final in September 2008 at a venue to be confirmed in London.
