Organisers of the second of this year's Later with Jools Holland inspired music events at Gorleston's Ocean Room are boasting “quite a line-up.”

Six acts are taking to the four stages next Saturday giving a totally eclectic mix of styles, featuring mainly original music as well as offering covers giving variety for all.

On stage one will be the impressive The Blind Lemon Soul Band, featuring a nine to 10 piece line up and bringing the spirit of Atlantic Soul and Roadhouse Blues to The Room.

The band is based in and around Lowestoft and formed around seventeen years ago but have lost none of their enthusiasm, bringing down the house with covers of classics by Otis Reading, James Brown, Etta James and Delbert McClinton.

They will be playing tracks through the night as well as finishing with a selection of floor fillers.

Stage two sees two of the finest musicians and entertainers in the area John Ward and Mario Price, both have graced the stages of some of the best venues and festivals both locally and internationally. John, a gifted singer songwriter who has been performing live music since the early 1980's, has released four critically acclaimed albums, his most recent being Praying For The Aliens. Mario Price violinist extraordinaire brings his exceptional improvisation talents and his exciting celtic/gypsy/jazz to the stage to complement John.

In total contrast stage three features Burn The Headlines, recently formed with only a few gigs under their belt, their opening gig was in early May at Norwich's Queen Charlotte rock venue. The band features Danny Porter ex Lazy Poker Blues Guitarist, Will Gatley guitar/vocals, Sam Currier bass, Jason Westgate drums and Kev Mileham vocals.

Acoustic stage four features no less than three acts, duo Yum Yum are Lisa and Jo who appeared at last year's The Room. Their almost silent and gentle songs are said to “grip you then blow you away with Lisa's haunting and powerful voice”.

The NJP Jazz Trio featuring guitarist Peter Pease brings the sound of Django Rheinhardt's gypsy jazz to the evening, along with a rhythm guitarist and saxophonist making up the trio. Returning from last year for another rare appearance will be Jason Parr and Red, former members of local band Blues At Ten. Organisers say neither of them perform on a wide scale nowadays and that they are “somewhat privileged” to have them perform for a second year. Jason, an accomplished slide guitarist and piano player, and Red a gravelly voiced blues singer are billed as “conjuring up a musical delight, best not to be missed.”

The Room is held at the Ocean Room, Gorleston. Entry is £5 on the door. Doors open at 8.30pm ahead of a 9.30pm start. For more information visit www.the-room.biz.
