REUBEN Jones has always been an entertainer and now he has returned to his childhood home to tell jokes, sing and do magic tricks for holidaymakers.

For Reuben, 29, is appearing in his own one-man show three nights a week at the Winter Gardens on Yarmouth's famous golden mile.

Reuben, who lives at Heacham with his wife, Liza and three young sons, is delighted to be back in the town where he attended the same High school as former S Club 7 star Hannah Spearrritt and sang in the same choir as former Hear'Say singer, Myleen Klass.

He is appearing at the venue on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights until September in what he describes as a family variety show involving a mix of comedy, singing, magic and games with audience participation.

It is the third year that Reuben has appeared at the venue on the seafront of which he has fond memories from his childhood days in the town. His parents Colin and Jan Jones and sister, Claire, still live in Yarmouth.

Playing a home venue for the summer means a lot less travelling for Reuben who does a lot of work in the West Country and on the south coast.

“The travelling doesn't bother me as long as I have a comfy car and can listen to Radio 4 then I am happy,” he said.

After he left school at 15 he began working as an entertainer at Potter's at Hopton and spent a decade there off and on entertaining holidaymakers.

His work since has taken him on the cabaret circuit, cruise ships and summer seasons.

Reuben says his style for his Winter Gardens show is mainly spontaneous.

“I usually say the first thing that comes into my head and if it gets a laugh I'll say it again but I don't do political or religious jokes. Having a wife and three kids provides me with plenty of material.”

He certainly has a busy lifestyle and in addition to his shows, he teaches singing and has just completed a year as musical director and conductor of the King's Lynn male Voice Choir. He has also been appointed conductor of a community choir, Singers Inspired, which is based at Downham Market.
