on stage: A group of East Norfolk students are swapping double biology for Blood Brothers as they learn about one of theatre’s best loved musicals.

The hit musical is an important part of the curriculum at Lynn Grove High School, Gorleston, as students prepare for a Blood Brothers-inspired workshop.

The session will be led by former star of Blood Brothers Sean Jones, who played the role of Mickey for 10 years in the West End.

On Wednesday November 14 the pupils will spend the morning exploring the lead characters, learning professional rehearsal techniques, practising script work and playing improvisation games. The workshop will close with a Q and A.

In the afternoon the class will head to Norwich Theatre Royal where they will enjoy a live performance of Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers, which stars West End star and multi-platinum selling artist Marti Pellow and X-Factor finalist Niki Evans.

Jason Raper, education manager at the theatre, said: “This is part of our continuing commitment to deliver educational opportunities for young people to increase their knowledge and inspire them to see live performances.”

“We have worked closely with the Blood Brothers team to make this happen for young people from Norfolk who may find it difficult to attend events like this in Norwich because of transport complications and journey times.”
