SUNDAYS are set to be a little more special this summer with a series of musical performances at Gorleston bandstand.

The bandstand, which stands in Pier Gardens, is hosting weekly concerts on Sunday afternoons from next month.

Opened last in May last year following a 65,000 fundraising campaign, it will be the first time the bandstand has hosted a regular programme of musical events.

The season kicks off with a performance by Dusmagrik Productions on May 3 and continues until September 27.

Also featured are concerts from the acclaimed Great Yarmouth Brass Band, Ipswich and Norwich Co-op Band and Skiffle IT and Norfolk Reeds.

The summer performances, from 2 to 4pm, have been organised by Greater Yarmouth Tourism and a poster produced to promote them.

Tourism events project manager Donna Bidwell said: “It is a really nice setting and is a great chance for people to enjoy a relaxing afternoon and see all the other attractions Gorleston has to offer.”

“There are going to be some evening concerts too and I am hoping to get some younger performers appearing on Saturdays.”
