ICONS of the British music scene, The Savages, will be at The Gorleston Pavilion on Halloween night, October 31, with their Monster Halloween Rock and Roll Show.
The Savages, who were probably best known as the backing band for the late great British eccentric Screaming Lord Sutch, have had many of the greats of the British music scene pass through their ranks, including legendary guitarists Jimmy Page, Ritchie Blackmore, Jeff Beck and Albert Lee; Hendrix’s Experience Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell; drummers Keith Moon and John Bonham (Heavy Friends); keyboard players Nicky Hopkins, Matthew Fisher (Procul Harum) and a young budding actor, Paul Nicholas; plus many, many more. In fact, it has been said that the Savages are the DNA of British rock music.
The Savages are celebrating their 50th year and the current band line-up continues the tradition of its members being musicians of the highest quality, touched with that little something which makes them “Savages.”
The Savages, said current band member and former Deep Purple bassist Nick Simper, are something of a British institution with a tradition dating back to the early sixties. He added: “It is a very special band because its members have all been part of what you can only describe as ‘The Savages experience’. “It sounds a bit crazy but former Savages will understand exactly. Yeah, it is a bit mental.”
