DUST down the parker, get out the kaftan or the mini-skirt again, because the Great Yarmouth based-Sixties tribute band, the Yarebeats is to re-form, for one gig only.
The original band was formed in 1978 and the longest running and current members are Michael Williams, (rhythm guitar), Andy Porter (bass guitar), Alan Dye (drums) and Kevin Darby (lead guitar). All four take turns as vocalists. Michael said, they all met through an advertisement in a music shop asking for musicians to form a band and eventually they formed one themselves.
Michael said: “We are all in our 50s and early 60s and played together until last year when we decided to disband after nearly 30 years. But having exchanged Christmas cards, we all thought it would be a marvellous idea to reform for the one-off gig.”
The group covers 60s bands material and is no stranger to the celebrity circuit having supported big-name bands at their gigs in this region. The list includes the Swinging Blue Jeans, the Merseybeats, Gerry and the Pacemakers and the Fortunes.
It was a desire to play the music of the Sixties that brought together four guys with the same tastes in pop history.

Over the years there have been several changes in personnel, but the line up of three guitars and drums has remained constant until 2008 when the band dropped down to just three.
The four-man current line up is still fronted by original member Michael Williams.
The one-off get-together is at the California Tavern tonight (Friday) at 9pm.
