STAND By as Great Yarmouth racecourse will rock to the music of The Who, Led Zeppelin and Thin Lizzy during the summer.

An all-day major outdoor performance of tribute acts on July 26 will help raise money to fund a festival showcasing local music groups and will feature national and internationally renowned tribute acts.

The Friends Tribute Festival has been organised by Eastern Music Underground (EMU).

Organiser Chris Anson, who has organised the annual Yarmouth Town Centre Music Festivals, said: “We want to make this day a success as we are trying to raise funds for the 2009 Town Centre Music Festival, TCMF4.”

This year's TCMF3 runs from July 12 to 20 in the Market Place and has been funded, but next year's is another matter - hence the Friends Tribute Festival.

Acts lined up for the 11am to 11pm racecourse event are Led Zep Too, Dizzy Lizzy, Heartbreaker, Aladdinsane, Pure Cult and Who's Renown.

Chris added: “It costs money to hire equipment for the Town Centre Music Festivals and we would like to be in a position to be able to pay for the hire ourselves from now on.”

TCMF3 has been funded by Community Neighbourhood Management, Awards for

All, the Town Centre Partnership and Norfolk County Council.

Tickets for the Friends Tribute event are on advance sale now with prices adult £20, under 18 £15, under fives free. On the day adults will have to pay £25 on the gate.

To book tickets, cheques should be made out to EMU, and sent to the EMU office at No 12, Row 48, Great Yarmouth NR30 1HJ. For more details call 07768 260121, or email: emulive@live.co.uk
