Pupils at Caister High School are set to mark VE Day with an all-singing, all-dancing, swing evening, featuring special guests FB Pocket Orchestra.

The event on Thursday May 9 at 7pm is being staged in partnership with Creative Arts East and supported by Youth Music to mark the almost 70 years since Winston Churchill announced the unconditional surrender that bought joy and relief to millions.

Now, 68 years later, pupils at Caister High School present their vintage ‘Turn Back Time’ evening inspired by these events, consisting of tea, cakes, swing dancing and live music from the impressive FB Pocket Orchestra.

A group of 10 eager pupils from Caister High School has been working on the project with Creative Arts East, to promote and organise the celebratory concert.

After a unanimous decision, the vintage swing band FB Pocket became the headline act and soon ideas for VE Day tie-in tea parties and forties swing dances were flying across the table in the after school sessions.

After months spent with the professionals, the date has now been set, and on Thursday Caister High’s ‘Turn Back Time’ will open its door to the public, who can add to the authenticity by wearing forties fashion.

Tickets, £5, from the reception at the school or via 01493 720542.
