WITH ITV's long running police drama The Bill coming to an end one of the best-loved characters is coming to Gorleston.

Graham Cole, who played PC Tony Stamp, is heading to Gorleston Pavilion on Sunday, October 17 to chat about his career and the programme.

PC Stamp, who has his own fan club called The Stampers, appeared for almost 25 years.

During that time the loyal and dependable officer and area car driver featured in many strong story lines, including a siege, and was even forced to appear naked after losing a bet.

Graham Cole started out as a Butlins Redcoat and appeared in seaside shows as a comedian and singer as well as many acting roles.

On TV he has appeared in Dr Who, Only Fools and Horses and Noel's House Party as well as being one of the longest serving members of The Bill, a role he originally landed because of his stage fighting ability. His part was written out last November when the series changed its format and became a more gritty weekly drama. PC Stamp's departure was a quiet one as he left Sun Hill to become a police driving instructor. In March it was announced the Bill was to be axed by ITV with the final episode screened this week.
