STUDENTS will be taking disco to the circus in June when they go back to the 70s for their big end of year musical at Great Yarmouth's Hippodrome in June.

Fuelled by last year's phenomenal success of the Queen tribute We Will Rock You, Great Yarmouth College's premier show at the historic venue, performing arts students will return in the summer with the 70s extravaganza, Disco Inferno.

Some of the best-loved songs and anthems of the 70s feature in the show, including Hot Stuff, Boogie Nights and I Will Survive.

Students are excited by the challenge of producing a show for a circular stage, known as theatre in the round, where the audience surrounds the action and actors have to play to 360 degrees in the unique atmosphere of a circus.

The cast of 35 are keen for the audience to get into the spirit for the show's three-night run and dig out their old flares and platforms and dress up for the performances for a party atmosphere.

The show follows the story of Jack, a happy-go-lucky nightclub worker, who dreams of life as a singing star. He finally achieves his dream by turning his back on his friends and selling his soul to the Devil, in the guise of the seductive Lady Marmalade.

There are many twists and turns along the way and the show is full of colourful and comic characters who all influence Jack's life and keep the action flowing.

Last year's production of We Will Rock You drew in packed audiences for its three-night run and won standing ovations for the first and second year students on the BTEC diplomas in performing arts.

The production runs nightly from Thursday June 19 to Saturday June 21 at 7.30pm and tickets will be available soon from the Hippodrome box office.
