GORLESTON Coastwatch held a gala concert at the Gorleston Pavillion to raise funds to run and maintain its station.

The packed house on Saturday

enjoyed entertainment in the first half by Great Yarmouth Junior Brass Band and the Festive Singers, as well as Helen and Adrian Jeckells.

In the second half the audience was treated to the wonderful ukulele playing of Andy Eastwood.

He also entertained with a great variety of string instruments, including banjo, guitar and violin, and ended with a great rendition of the William Tell overture on ukulele - believed to be the only entertainer capable of doing so.

Spokesman Bill Richmond said Gorleston Coastwatch wanted to thank all who sponsored

the concert and who went along.

He said that more than £2,000 was raised from the concert, which would enable Coastwatch members to continue their totally voluntary operations from South Pier.

A lucky programme, number 32, for a prize of £25 was not claimed on the evening. This can be claimed by telephoning 01493 669433 and then producing the programme by December 31.
